Afar Tree

Afar Tree presents a series of wooden wall-sculptures born from a progressive dance between two- and three-dimensional processes — the imaginary logic of flatness bent into three dimensions. The works take shape like puzzles, their corresponding edges aligning to form a larger whole. Metaphorically, they are an attempt to piece together the visual language that connects us all: why certain combinations of line, color, and shape recall parts of our lives, the cosmos, the deep sea, Stonehenge — or a memory or feeling from years ago. It's the language of the enigmatic world that they are trying to solve.
